Pu+Ra HPE concept previews Lancia’s ‘new era’

The car provides inspiration for the revived Stellantis brand’s Italian manifesto of design with partners, interior “home feeling,” sustainability, electrification, and effortless technology, providing a taste of what to expect of the 2024 Ypsilon and its new 100% electric lineup of “city cars, flagships, and compact sedans.”
Over the weekend, Stellantis brand Lancia unveiled its long-awaited future vision for the long-neglected brand focused on design, an interior “home feeling,” sustainability, electrification, and “effortless technology.” The Pu+Ra HPE concept car is intended to be a practical, nimble model with a streamlined, efficient, and aerodynamic body, to enable the brand’s new 100% electric manifesto.

The concept represents the brand vision for the next 10 years that takes it “into the era of electric mobility and sums up our way of conceiving and experiencing the car,” said Luca Napolitano, CEO of the Lancia brand. “Starting with the new Ypsilon, our cars of the future will be inspired by the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE.”

The design language sees the cars’ volumes created from the intersection of elementary forms such as circles and triangles. The “Pu+Ra” in its name refers to the Pure and Radical design language. The “HPE” portion, used for a version of Lancia’s 1970’s Beta model, stood for High Performance Estate but it now stands for High Performance Electric.
